New Year, More Healthy Eating and Physical Activity
It's a new year, and HOST members are offering ways to make--and keep--resolutions for healthy eating and physical activity.
- Alliance for a Healthier Generation suggests starting the year with the healthy activities of "#NewDaysResolution: 7 Simple Activities for Your Week."
- It's Time Texas offers "5 Tips to Move Resolutions to Reality" towards better health.
- Afterschool Alliance tells us "How to make afterschool health and wellness resolutions a reality."
- Dr. Georgia Hall, Director of the National Institute on Out-of-School Time, explains in a New Year's video how physical activity before or after school helps kids develop healthy habits and perform better in school.
Plus, here are a few more ideas and inspiration to start the year right:
- Active Schools has released A Guide for Engaging Parents in School Physical Education and Physical Activity, designed for teachers, administrators, staff, and other individuals and groups who work with parents.
- The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) gives us a profile of Playworks, which since 2005 has provided supervised, inclusive, recess programs at schools across the country and now serves 1,300 schools in 23 communities.
