Diane M. Genco has worked with families for over twenty-five years. Her experience ranges from head teacher of a playgroup for two-year olds to day care for senior citizens. A native of Buffalo, New York, she attended the State University College at Buffalo and received a BS in Human Development, Family and Community Relations. She then earned her MS in Education and Child Care Administration from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Before her move to New Jersey, Diane was the Executive Director of the Lawrence Extended Day Program in Brookline, Massachusetts, for ten years. This program provided after-school child care and enrichment classes in a public school.
Currently Diane is a Training Associate for the National Institutes on Out-of-School Time at Wellesley College. In this capacity she has trained school administrators and school-age child care professionals in 40 states.
Diane has also served on the New Jersey School-Age Care Coalition (NJSACC) Board for the last ten years in positions of increasing responsibility. She recently was appointed the first Executive Director. Nationally, she served on the Board of Directors for the National School-Age Care Alliance and was a member of its Board of Advisors.
As a highly acclaimed national speaker, Diane presents workshops and keynote addresses on family child care, school-age child care, parenting, fostering creativity in children and professional development.
In her community she serves on the Board of Directors of the Westfield YMCA. Recently, Diane joined the Education Fund of Westfield’s Board of Directors.
She is a mother of a nineteen-year-old son and a fourteen-year-old daughter. In addition she cares for one rabbit, two dogs, one spouse, many orchids and assorted fish.
